The Harley-Davidson Rally Transcript

JANE: I'm on the East Coast. It's great to be out of the city, I've got the sea, the fresh air, there's not a soul in sight and it's so quiet and peaceful…

______

JANE: So what's all this about? I ask Cole Kim, Managing Director of Harley-Davidson Korea.

COLE KIM: This is the 6th National Korean HOG Rally. The first one was in 1999, we've grown, we started with about 150 riders, we started out and now, today we have about 580. So it's grown quite a bit.

______

JANE: Why is a Harley-Davidson motorcycle so special?

DAVID: Well, riding a Harley-Davidson is full of passion. If you really want to experience life, you've got to experience it with intensity and with love and err Harley-Davidson does all that. It really kind of excites your whole soul.

JIM: It's just the feel of the bike, the sound of the engine and riding a Harley is like being in a brotherhood.

_______

JANE: And why did you come to the rally today?

MICHEL: Well, er, bikes. Lots of them obviously, thousands, well hundreds of beautiful bikes. Usually HOG rallies also have some very lovely HOG ladies, so we come to see the HOG ladies as well, you know.

_______

JANE: She just told me just now that at this rally, out of all the people that are here today, there are only 10 Korean women riders.

_______

JANE: Do you know if any of these guys here are gangsters?

FREEMAN: No, gangsters, they er, not even gangster wannabes

_______

JANE: Basically, it's to protect his face from the elements, from the sun, the wind the rain, if he falls off. It's not because he's a gangster and he's trying to hide.

_______

JANE: How do Koreans react to someone who rides a Harley, usually when you ride your bike?

RICK: You get a lot of looks. Especially when you're driving around with as many people as there are here. It's always looks and AH!

_______

JANE: If you have a choice, between giving up your motorbike, or giving up your wife, which one would it be?

ADRIAN: That is not a question I can really answer.

_______

JANE: The HOG rally is about bikes… it's about the people who own them…. It's about the thrill of the ride and the run itself.
